From from Stockholm, Sweden, founded in 2012 by bass player, songwriter and producer; Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side originate back to 2008 when the EP “ In Secret Pace” was recorded as an exam-project at the MusicAcademy in Piteå, Sweden. The first recordings featured a large lineup of musicians and was originally intended to work as a demo for an upcoming band. But as term ended Jonas moved to Stockholm to pursue a career as a freelance musician and the idea got put on hold. In 2012 “In Secret Pace” was finally released on digital platforms as Jonas started to work on new material.
This time the lineup featured a five piece band and the second EP “The Other Side” was finished and released in 2013. The project was named Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side from the title track of the album.
In 2015 the band began working on their first full length album and released “Pathfinder” in 2016 to great reviews. After the enthusiastic reception of the album, Jonas immediately began writing new material in the following months. But due to heavy touring with lots of other commitments the project got put on hold until 2019, when the band finally started recording a follow-up album.
The new album – called “Miles From Nowhere” features the same lineup as on previous albums along with a few more guest musicians. Returning on a few tracks is Simon Wilhelmsson (drums) as well as Jonas’s brother Joel and Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings, Transatlantic) on lead guitars. Missing is the band’s keyboard player Michael Ottosson who sadly passed away in the summer of 2020, leading to Jonas taking on full keyboard duties for the album.
Miles From Nowhere is due for release on 18 February 2022 by Inside Out
In the late 1990s a two-man line-up of the iconic Pink Fairies band, Paul Rudolph and Twink, recorded a pair of albums called Pleasure Island (1996) and No Picture (1997) which only received a limited release at the time. The band has now approved re-mastered re-releases of both albums via Cherry Red.
During the preparation of the re-releases, two incomplete tracks came to light. “Do You Remember?” and “Bugman” have now been released for the first time on a new compilation of recordings from the era, called Duo, which also features newly written liner notes chronicling this 1990s chapter of the band’s history.
Paul Rudolph said: “It was a lot of fun to work with Twink on ‘Pleasure Island’ and ‘No Picture’. A visit turned into a totally spontaneous happening with things coming together on the spot, not unlike a Pink Fairies gig, rehearsal or recording session. Riding the energy of the Universe in the moment. For me, ‘Cargoe in Jamaica’ from the ‘Pleasure Island’ CD is very reminiscent of the Pink Fairies live. Working with Twink’s lyrics reminded me of our collaboration writing ‘Do It’.
Twink added: “Working with Paul again, albeit at a distance, has reminded me of the great and fun times we had together making the albums ‘Pleasure Island’ and ‘No Picture’ back in the 90s. The remastered versions just released by Cherry Red Records sound amazing. I’ve heard the remastered version of the ‘Duo’ compilation with previously unreleased recordings included and it sounds equally amazing. I sincerely hope we will get a chance to work together again in the future. Hey Captain …. Don’t forget the sea biscuits!!”
In a moment of madness I almost opened another website today! I will explain!
For the last year or so I have been indulging in an old hobby called ‘painting’. By that, I don’t mean walls, window frames, doors or even ceilings, even though my wife would prefer that greatly. What I mean is painting pictures on canvas, art board and my favourite media reclaimed pallet wood!
For some reason people like these paintings and I have already sold three! Incidentally, that is two more than Vincent Van Gogh sold in his lifetime. (Yes, yes, I know he sold all of them but that was just his brother bailing him out! I don’t have a brother so I have to do it all myself!)
I need a platform to publicise my work so, rather than open another website I have decided to use this one! To be honest it should fit together very nicely as most Proggy people are very creative too!
So that’s it! I will start to upload images soon and hopefully (WordPress permitting) will open a page where you can buy them. In the meantime, anyone in the North East of England can see them in https://www.fromlofttoloved.co.uk/ and in their shop in Sedgefield.
Here are a couple that are in there at the moment!
If you would like to purchase or ask questions then feel free to contact me through the usual channels.

California multi-instrumentalist and composer Rachel Flowers will be releasing her eagerly awaited new solo album on October 1, 2021. Rachel demonstrates with her latest effort that she truly is, as the title suggests, “Bigger on the Inside.” As a composer, Rachel seamlessly weaves together elements of progressive rock, jazz, classical, and pop music with cinematic orchestrations, soaring melodies, and virtuosic playing. Top this off with Rachel’s 3 1/2 octave vocal range and her uncanny ability to explore universal themes ranging from love, joy, and hope to depression, bullying, and fear of an uncertain future with sensitivity and optimism, and you have an album that is destined to stand the test of time.
Says Rachel, “I was inspired by composers and bands like Ambrosia, Frank Zappa, and Keith Emerson while writing the songs on ‘Bigger on the Inside.’ Some songs were inspired by or even heard in dreams. Others were improvised during the recording process. Sometimes just hearing a new piano sound can lead to inspiration. Some of my lyrics just come from my imagination and others come from real experience.”
Rachel Flowers is recognized worldwide as a multi-instrumentalist and composer whose music spans multiple genres.
She first gained recognition for her talent as a young child and has been admired and mentored by those at the top of their field including Greg Lake, Keith Emerson, Dweezil Zappa, Conductor Terje Mikkelson, and a series of jazz greats, most notably Herbie Hancock. As a teenager she won numerous awards as a pianist and flutist, and has matured to perform and record on the global stage.
The award winning documentary “Hearing Is Believing” was produced about her unusual life and talents.
Among Rachel’s recording credits are her solo albums “Listen” (2016) and “Going Somewhere” (2018), “Music From the Soundtrack: Hearing is Believing” (2017), collaborations with Michael Sadler of Saga and fusion band Stratospheerius, and appearances on the albums of Telergy and Marcelo Paganini. Rachel is prominently featured on “Keith Emerson – Beyond the Stars,” and the much awaited CD and DVD set, “Fanfare For The Uncommon Man: The Official Keith Emerson Tribute Concert.”
Rachel continues to defy expectations, refusing to be pigeonholed by genre or by instrument. Her classical piano training started when she was only 4 years old. At 9 she discovered jazz and was immediately transfixed by the music of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and Ella Fitzgerald. As varied as her musical background had already been, hearing Emerson, Lake & Palmer proved to be a turning point. Rachel was captivated by keyboardist Keith Emerson’s innovative integration of classical and jazz elements in a rock setting, and he became a musical role model.
While her favorite instruments continue to be piano and organ, she is also classically trained on the flute and plays the guitar, bass, saxophone, and Chapman Stick.
Says Rachel, “I’ve always wanted to create music that had those big sounds that I love. I was excited to incorporate more of the organ on this album, using my Nord C2D and Electro 4D as well as pipe organ sound libraries to get that iconic tone I was looking for. There is also a lot of electric guitar on this album. I was inspired by Steve Vai, John Mayer, Steven Wilson, and of course Adrian Belew, who was a direct inspiration for the opening track.”
In support of Rachel’s new album release she will be performing at ProgStock on October 1 – 3, 2021 (https://www.progstock.com/2021/). On November 6, 2021 Rachel opens for Asia featuring John Payne at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, New Jersey, and she is slated to perform at Synthplex, the “All Things Synthesizer” electronic music festival & gear expo, on October 27 – 30, 2022 at the Los Angeles Burbank Airport Convention Center.
Rachel’s future plans include completion of a jazz album, and a jazz/hip-hop fusion album, both started during the pandemic. There are no release dates as yet. Plans to record with a live orchestra are currently in discussion.
In closing Rachel has this to impart to her listeners, “The message I would like my listeners to come away with is that there will be darkness, but you can fly, you can love, you can be loved, and the darkness is only temporary.”
Italian guitarist/songwriter Marco Mattei unveils his first solo album, an original mix of prog-rock, dream-pop, folk and world music entitled “Out of Control” on 7D Media/Third Star Records on November 19, 2021.
Featuring Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel), Fabio Trentini (Le Orme, Markus Reuter), Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates), Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, XTC), Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa, Allan Holdsworth), Clive Deamer (Portishead, Radiohead, Robert Plant)
“Out of Control” is a multi-facet collection of intense, emotional songs. Marco creates a multi-layered, original sound utilizing a wide range of electric and acoustic guitars together with guitar loops, bouzouki and resonator guitars, supported by lifelong friends and globally acclaimed musicians. The musical texture is further enriched with a variety of acoustic/ethnic instruments such as Irish whistle, flute, fiddle, mandolin, pedal steel guitar, sitar and tambura played by a collection of musicians from all parts of the world.
The lyrics of this concept album revolve around things we cannot control such as the place and time we are born, the color of our skin or the people we meet during our life.
Says Marco, “Yes, this is a concept album about things we cannot control. The key insight is the realization that many aspects of what we perceive to be defining our identity are not under our control. And the main message is that this realization should lead to a change of perspective: as we put ourselves in other people’s shoes, we allow ourselves to become more open and empathic. The other aspect of it is that we cannot control the hand we are dealt with, but we can surely decide how to play it. Beside my passion for music, spreading this message of empathy and inclusion is one of the things that motivates me.”
Marco Mattei was born and raised in Civitavecchia, Italy. Very passionate about music from an early age, as a teenager he studied jazz guitar with Max Rosati while developing a deep interest in the creative vision and complexity of prog rock music. He joined DeBlaise, a new prog local band, contributing to the songwriting of their EP “By Common Consent” and to many years of live music. He also co-founded “The Snowdogs” a Rush tribute band.
As he earned his master’s degree in Electronics and MBA, he also developed an interest in sound engineering and design and attended advanced audio engineering and music production programs. Marco lived in six different countries in three different continents, exploring cultural differences, picking up musical influences and learning the value of diversity. He currently lives in the USA and continues to explore different musical styles as a composer, musician and producer, collaborating with artists from all around the world.
In closing Marco has this to impart, “Listen to the album multiple times and you will keep finding new dimensions to it. Pay attention to the lyrics and consider the perspective that, as we realize that many aspects of what we perceive to be defining our own identity are not under our control, we should tend to be more tolerant, empathic, and inclusive.”
“Out of Control” will appeal to listeners of Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Paul Simon.

Drumming legend, composer and producer Carmine Appice has joined forces with multi-instrumentalist and rising studio star Fernando Perdomo to form The Appice-Perdomo Project, whose debut album Energy Overload will be released September 24, 2021. The first single, Rocket To The Sun, dropped on August 31.
“I had a ball writing and recording with Fernando,” says Carmine Appice. “What a great talent he is. He is awesome on every level; as are the songs on Energy Overload! Adds co-musician Fernando Perdomo: “Carmine and I were introduced to each other roughly one year ago by Tom Dowd’s daughter Dana. We instantly hit it off musically, sending files to each other and co-writing. Within the first six months, we had more than an albums worth of material written, arranged and recorded. We had a blast making the music on Energy Overload. It is our hope that the energy that was created for this record is contagious to those that listen to it.”
Carmine Appice is best known for co-founding Vanilla Fudge, Cactus and King Kobra. As a drummer and composer, he has worked extensively with Ozzy Osbourne, Rod Stewart and Ted Nugent, and remains on Rolling Stone Magazine’s 100 Greatest Drummers of All-Time list. Fernando Perdomo, the son of Cuban immigrants, quickly launched a successful career as a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and session musician upon moving to Los Angeles in 2012. He was recently featured in the film ECHO IN THE CANYON, where he recorded and performed with Eric Clapton, Brian Wilson, Jakob Dylan and many others.
There is a reason for the ‘?’ and that is because some people don’t understand Krautrock!
Now, I don’t profess to be an expert in the field, having just got turned on to more than Amon Duul II and Tangerine Dream! Faust, Popul Vuh and Ash Ra Tempel were all a mystery to be explored which I am doing at the moment!
When you start looking a a new (to you) musical genre I assumed (maybe wrongly) that everyone gravitates to Wikipedia (I do). So I did!
I found loads of new Krautrock bands to explore! Can , Neu, Guru Guru, Cluster and Nektar!
Hang on a sec, NEKTAR – Krautrock?
I have loved Nektar since I was about 14, about the same time I fell in love with that brilliant Welsh band Man!
Let’s just examine Nektar: Members: Roye Albrighton Derek Moore Alan (Taff) Freeman Ron Howden
Which one of them sounds German?
To be fair I know where the confusion comes from, it’s all to do with the fact that Nektar were formed in Hamburg in 1969 and stayed there!
On the cover of the vinyl version of Man’s album ‘Back Into The Future’ is the phrase: “Thanks to Nektar for coming to England” and on the cover of Nektar’s ‘Remember the Future’ is the legend “Thanks for Man for coming to Germany”!
If Nektar are Krautrock – then possibly so are Man!
Nektar “…Sounds Like Swiss” Live in Switzerland 1973 CD/DVD Available October 1, 2021
Unearthed audio and video recordings from legendary progressive rock band Nektar captured live in Switzerland, 1973. Includes an hour-long concert videotaped for Swiss TV’s Kaléidospop, unseen since its original broadcast. The two CDs include the audio portion of the TV show as well as a complete show soundboard audio recording from the Pavilion des Sports in Lausanne, Switzerland in May 1973.
Housed in a beautiful 4 panel digipak, this CD/DVD set is an epic, historical document showcasing the bands early innovative and pioneering sound that remains as vital and influential as ever.
Booklet includes liner notes by bassist and founding members Derek “Mo” Moore and Mick Brockett. The band’s line up for these legendary performances in fact features all five original members – the late Roye Allbrighton on guitar and vocals, Derek “Mo” Moore on bass and vocals, Allan “Taff” Freeman on organ and vocals, and Ron Howden on drums and percussion in addition to Mick Brockett handling the visual tapestry that was such a key component of the “Music and Light Theatre” that the band was presenting at the very height of progressive rocks main sequence during the mid-70’s.
“I have known of its existence since we did this concert in 1973 and have never been able to find it. To have this unearthed after all these years is fantastic and takes me immediately back to that time. It was great to be allowed to contribute what was needed to bring this about. Roger Houdaille of ‘Think Like a Key’ did a great job in putting this together” – Derek “Mo” Moore
